Marble and limestone H21 x W28 x D18
This was my covid piece. I have a wild plant in my garden called purple gromwell. Its flowers are a true, vivid blue and when they appear in May, my spirits and motivation soar, so that I want to do more and better work. In 2020 this was especially poignant because, after all that people suffered because of the pandemic, it gave a feeling of life regenerating itself.
The marble form is the shape that my imagination found to echo this impetus. The inserted limestone form represents the brimstone butterfly that flew down to the plant.
The work represents a resurgence of creative and spiritual energy.
Aspects of the shape suggest soaring.
